a field of flowers, our wedding #2

i've started thinking about what sort of flowers I might like to adorn our big day with. at first I wanted to only carry a bunch of baby's breath tightly bound with the family tartan from my mother's side. then I thought perhaps lily of the valley, but apparently that doesn't last particularly well. and then I saw these....hello lover! they are called billy ball's and might be exactly what I am looking for....and they even look good on the groom!

monday arts madness...

i had a few beers with some work people on friday night and we got to talking about some of the most inspirational performances we'd seen and what made them so incredible...and I got to thinking what performances have stuck with me long after the curtain went down.

the first would have to be Sacred Monsters at the Adelaide Festival of Arts, starring Sylvie Guillem  and Akram Khan. a prima ballerina and a cross cultural dancer and choreographer with a Bangladeshi history joined on a sparse stage. what followed was a performance of rich simplicity and a standing ovation from three levels of the Festival Theatre. If you don't believe me...take a look for yourself...there will be more to come.

i should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky....

sometimes I sit and my green desk with all it's angles and look through to our bright orange studios and realise I am very lucky to work where I do...around such amazing creations....

hello lover

wow.

the ever talented Sarah Magid via Oh Joy!

she has a book coming out, probably best not to read it before bed, I doubt she'd be willing to except the blame for sleep eating, cooking or icing...

tap shoes and roller skates

The last two days have been manic. the company i work for is touring a lot internationally so that last two days have been spent booking everyone's flights to visit some amazing places and crossing all my fingers and toes and wishing, hoping and praying that i didn't make a mistake...so far so good.
when i was a little girl, practicing my tap routines on the front verandah and roller skating around all the corners i would pass mum's hydrangea plants. i remember in summer we used to build forts of wet sheets to keep their petals protect
ed from the sun. so when i saw this photo on the brides cafe i did a big 'ooohhhh' - almost big enough to give myself the hiccups - she looks beautiful! how effortless, simple but breathtaking.
i was thinking a bouquet of either white or green ones, but maybe now i will wear them in my hair.

a stitch in time...

I am knitting a new red scarf for winter...so I can look a little bit like this....minus the cool short hair but just as toasty. and on top of that will come a sparkly headband of deliciousness, which I will post when it's finished.

jam sandwiches and jackie o

I hate loud chewing. this morning my tram was packed to the roof, and about 15 minutes before I could get off - breathe the air of freedom and take a little stroll to my office...there is was. A jam sandwich, wrapped in glad wrap, eaten by a business man sans tie. No, not eaten. masticated. I could hear everything. and I had megan washington blaring in my ears, and the chewing even drowned her out. I was stuck, if I turned right to get a bit more space I was eyeing the mouthful square on. so I stayed left and turned up miss washington.

there was a point to writing that...when I got to work, I was not happy. until I found this. such deliciousness on a Friday morning. Flash Dance feature photographers and djs and any wedding vendor you can name. the photos are amazing. and what's even more beautiful is the sites opener. jackie o, on her wedding day in black and white video perfection. i watched it at least three times I swear.  if I was in LA, I would have this site bookmarked on my iphone and read it while trying to ignore the business man sans tie chewing his jam sandwich with his mouth open.

tomorrow I am off to a baby shower. weeeeeeeee.
